Since its inception in 1980 al-Fikr Journal of Arabic and Islamic studies has provided an international scholarly forum for critical engagements in the twin disciplines of Arabic and Islamic Studies broadly defined. As is evidenced in its title, the Journal welcomes well researched “Thoughts”, “Ideas” and “Viewpoints” on, among others, Arabic language, literature –modern and pre-modern, Islamic law, jurisprudence, politics, sociology, history, and culture. Al-Fikr will also accept contributions from scholars in other disciplines within the humanities and the social-sciences particularly where such articles or essays engage issues which have close relations to Arabic and Islamic culture
