Aims and Scope

The Journal, RENEWABLE - is an official publication of the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, University of Ibadan; that is published twice (June and December) a year in one volume. The Journal publishes carefully peer-reviewed original research articles on various aspects of renewable natural resources, forestry, environment, aquaculture, wildlife, ecotourism, and fisheries management. It covers diverse areas such as production, management, products, biotechnology, socio-economics, extension, health, physiology, nutrition, feeds and feedstuff, breeding and genetics, reproduction, farming systems, and man-flora-fauna interactions within the context of sustainable management of renewable natural resources. Review articles covering new developments in the aforementioned fields are also acceptable.

 

Editorial policy

Submission of a paper will be taken to imply that the material has not been previously published or is being considered for publication elsewhere. Submission of a multi-authored manuscript implies that the consent of all the participating authors has been obtained. RENEWABLE does not necessarily subscribe to the opinions or conclusions expressed by authors; however, the copyright of all published materials rests with the journal. The journal does not expressly guarantee nor warranty the standard of any product mentioned; neither does it imply approval of any product to the exclusion of others that may also be suitable. Trade and brand names are used only for information purposes.

 

GUIDE TO AUTHORS

 

Format of the Manuscript

Manuscripts should be word processed with Times New Roman, font size 12, double-spaced and line-numbered using A4 size paper. Pages of manuscripts should be serially numbered using Arabic numerals. The sequence of organization of manuscripts should generally include:

 

 

 

Title of the paper

This should be concise, specific, and appropriately describe the content of the paper.

 

Authors’ Names and Addresses

Authors’ names and initials should be provided (e.g. Ajani, E. K., Ogunsanwo, O. Y. and Lameed, G. A.); with their affiliations. The corresponding author should be identified with an e-mail address and a telephone number.

 

Target audience

The target or primary audience that would benefit from the article should be stated.

 

Abstract

This should be brief and informative, giving an account of the scope of the paper, as well as highlighting the major findings and conclusions in not more than 250 words. The abstract of a review and general interest article should highlight the new ideas the article is reporting.

 

Keywords

These should consist of 4-5 words with each word separated by a semicolon.

 

Introduction

This heading should start the main body of the paper, after the abstract. It should include a brief statement of the problems and a clear description of the justification, aims, and objectives of the investigation being reported.

 

Materials and Methods

The materials and methods should be clearly stated in a way to permit the reproducibility of the work by other researchers. The experimental design and statistical tools used should be clearly described. The measurement instruments and tools used for independent and dependent variables should be stated. However, known methods should only be referenced while new techniques and /or modifications to known methods should be described in detail.

 

Results and Discussion

This could be separated or combined. This section should contain the observed results and their interpretations. Results should be adequately described using tables, figures, charts, graphs, plates, etc. Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals. Where descriptive subheadings are used, they should be italicized and should precede all major paragraphs. Discussion of results must specifically show how the findings of the work address the problem(s) and objectives stated at the onset of the study.

 

Conclusions

This section should contain the inferences drawn from the results of the study and its application to the target audience. The conclusions should be in a single paragraph of not more than four sentences.

 

Acknowledgments

Author(s) may wish to state their appreciation to individuals or agencies or institutions that contributed in one way or another to the research, that the article is reporting.

 

References

References cited in the text should follow the APA referencing format 7th edition. All references cited should be listed in the reference section in alphabetical and chronological order stating the surnames, initials, year of publication, title, medium of publication, journal volume, and the page range.

 

Tables and Figures

All accompanying tables, figures, or photographs should be numbered and cited sequentially in the text. When preparing tables, the title should be in lower case letters (except the first letter). Avoid horizontal and vertical lines within the tables. Insert Table option should be used to prepare tables instead of preparing tables manually. The illustrations (as minimal as possible) must be very sharp and clearly defined. Legends should not be on the photographic illustrations but should be typed on a separate page accompanying the figures. Graphs should be prepared in clear reproducible camera-ready forms of printing.

 

Manuscript Submission

RENEWABLE prefers to receive the submission of articles electronically via the website: http://journals.ui.edu.ng/index.php/ren/index. Interested authors may also submit manuscripts and accompanying materials to ibadanrenewablejournal@gmail.com.

A cover letter addressed to Editor-in-Chief, RENEWABLE must accompany each submission. The cover letter should provide the corresponding author’s full name and contact information, including the preferred mailing address, e-mail address, and mobile telephone number(s).

 

Peer Review and Publication Process

The journal does not accept manuscripts with a similarity index above 25%. Two or more experts will review all original manuscripts submitted for publication, using the blind review option before a decision is taken. However, manuscripts that do not conform to the guidelines will be promptly returned. Authors will be notified within one to two months on the status of their papers; either accepted, revision requested, or rejected. All accepted manuscripts are further subjected to editing and abridgment. Corresponding authors are responsible for action on reviewers’ comments and editing. Corresponding authors will receive galley proofs of edited manuscripts for review and comments before publication.

 

Article Processing Charges

Authors of manuscripts submitted, accepted, and published must pay both handling and page charges. Handling charge of five thousand naira (local) or ten dollars (foreign) per paper must accompany paper submission while the sum of #30,000 or Eighty dollars is paid on each manuscript, accepted, and published. Extra cost will be incurred for pages exceeding 15 pages (@ #500 per page), and colour pages (@ #1000 per page) included in manuscripts.

Suffice to say here, however, that papers are not published on the basis of ability to pay.

 

Terms and Conditions

Kindly note that all manuscripts already sent out for review cannot be withdrawn from the journal unless rejected by the journal.

Individuals -$25 p.a.; Institutions - $40 p.a.

Outside Nigeria (Postage Inclusive).

Individuals - $50 p.a; Institutions - $100 p.a.
